Tottenham idol points the finger at ‘underhand tactics’ after Harry Kane news via Sky

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte is right to call out his Bayern Munich counterpart Julian Nagelsmann regarding his comments about Harry Kane, according to Paul Robinson.

The ex-White Hart Lane number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested Nagelsmann, 35, used “underhand tactics” to try and unsettle Kane, 28.

As shown on Sky Sports (23 July), Nagelsmann opened the door on a move for Kane this summer during a press conference.

The Bayern Munich manager said the England captain would “score a lot in the Bundesliga” before claiming “we will see what happens in the future.”

Antonio Conte hit back at his counterpart, via Sky Sports (24 July), and claimed his comments were “disrespectful.”

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the situation, Robinson said: “Managers have the right to say and do what they want but as a mark of respect you generally do not comment on players at other clubs.

“You would perhaps see it when a club is very close to signing a player and it is all but a formality.

“I think it was disrespectful. Conte certainly did not like it. It is an underhand tactic, if you like.

“If you ask all managers in Europe, honestly, on or off the record they would all want Harry Kane.

“It is not a surprise that there is interest but the way Nagelsmann went about it, there was not call for it.”
