Tottenham in pole position to sign Tyler Dibling after opening talks – sources

Tottenham have moved to steal a march on rival clubs after holding preliminary talks over a move to sign Tyler Dibling, sources have told Football Insider.

The 19-year-old has also been closely watched by Man United, Liverpool, and a number of German Bundesliga sides after the success of Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham.

It is believed Southampton will struggle to keep hold of Dibling this summer following their inevitable relegation from the Premier League

This comes after Southampton slapped a £100million price tag on the winger in an attempt to deter the growing interest from a number of top clubs. [Times]

However, he is still widely expected to leave St Mary’s for a lower price than their initial quote after he turned down their offer of a new contract.

His current deal is set to expire in 2027, and this summer is seen as their main chance to make a significant fee from his sale while his stock is highest.

Southampton respond to Tottenham and Man United’s Tyler Dibling interest

Former Spurs scout Mick Brown told Football Insider in February that Tottenham have held internal talks about signing Dibling ahead of the transfer window.

The winger has enjoyed a breakthrough season in the Premier League despite his side’s struggles, appearing in 25 of their 29 games so far.

However, as they approach relegation with 17 points separating them from safety, the Saints have already begun planning for next season.

Brown told Football Insider earlier this month that Southampton are preparing for a mass exodus in the summer window, with the likes of Dibling and Aaron Ramsdale expected to leave.

However, sources say they are reluctant to let their players leave on cut-price fees and plan to receive fair sums if they are forced to sell.

Ange Postecoglou eyes Hayden Hackney signing

Alongside their ambitions of signing Dibling, Tottenham are eyeing a number of other young, English players to add to their squad this summer.

Brown told Football Insider on 22 March that Tottenham want to sign Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney and are prepared to rival Crystal Palace and Aston Villa for his signature.

Failure to gain promotion to the Premier League will greatly weaken Boro’s chances of keeping Hackney as top-level interest continues to grow.

If Spurs were successful in their pursuit, he would join the likes of Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Mikey Moore in a developing squad in North London.
