Medical expert reveals how long Dejan Kulusevski out after Tottenham latest

Tottenham have made the right call to pull Dejan Kulusesvski out of training before he exacerbates his injury – and the winger may miss just a few days of action.

That is the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis.

Kulusevski, 22, is with Spurs on their pre-season tour of South Korea but did not feature in the 6-3 win over a K League XI on Wednesday (13 July).

As relayed by football.london on the eve of the clash in Seoul, the Swede withdrew from training with a calf problem on Monday (11 July).

Spurs have just under a month to go until they begin their 2022-23 campaign against Southampton on 6 August.

And Dinnery claims that Antonio Conte is right to take no risks with Kulusevski.

“The bar is always lower to withdraw from a training session because there is less on the line,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

“Also, you don’t want to take any unneeded chances at this stage of the season. Calves, as with all muscular and soft tissue problems, you need to treat very carefully.

“A slight tweak can easily turn into a tear or a strain which could turn into several weeks on the sidelines.

“We know how important this period is. Missing a session or two isn’t ideal but you would rather miss a few days than a few weeks.”
