Tottenham insider issues verdict on pre-Brentford ‘boost’ after source’s Hotspur Way reveal
Tottenham have not gained an advantage over Brentford after missing their clash against Burnley on Sunday (28 December).
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Tottenham’s game against Burnley was postponed due to the snow on the pitch at Turf Moor.
Brentford’s game on the same day went ahead, leading some fans to assume Tottenham’s players will be in better condition ahead of Thursday’s (2 December) clash.
However, on Monday (29 November), a Spurs source told Football Insider Antonio Conte ordered his players to undergo training back in London straight after the postponement.
Wenham rejects the notion that Spurs will go into their game against Brentford after not playing last weekend.
“I used to think that sort of thing mattered,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“But I’ve seen too many games over the years where we have had a two-week break and we’ve been smashed off a team who played in midweek.
“I used to believe that was how it worked but in reality, it makes very little difference.
“I’m expecting a good game. Brentford played well when we beat them in the Carabao Cup last season.

“They are coming off a good win over Everton as well so it won’t be an easy game.
“I think it would be a stretch to say us having a weekend of not playing is a boost ahead of a big game.”
