Tottenham insider slams ‘bottlers’ Arsenal and swipes at what they did to Leeds
It is a “disgrace” that Arsenal succeeded in calling off their Tottenham clash after “steamrollering” a Leeds United team with “nine players and a 15-year-old on the bench”.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Arsenal had their request for postponement granted by the Premier League after the club cited a lack of players due to injury, suspension, Covid and players being away at AFCON.
The Gunners have four players at AFCON and Martin Odegaard tested positive for Covid on 13 January.
Wenham insists Arsenal had no grounds to request the postponement of their derby clash against Spurs.
“The game being called off is an absolute disgrace,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I’m sorry, but this week Arsenal loaned out two players who have featured in the Premier League this season in Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Folarin Balogun.
“They will have been fully aware they had four players at AFCON prior to those loans. It’s through their own fault they were missing six players.
“You then have Xhaka getting a stupid red card against Liverpool, so on what grounds does that mean the game should be called off?
“You had Odegaard with Covid, that’s just one player where it’s unavoidable if you like.
“It’s unfair, Arsenal were happy to go and steamroll Leeds when they had nine senior players and a 15-year-old on the bench but they bottled it when it’s their turn.

“With two fully fit sides, at Tottenham, we win that game anyway. I am looking forward to beating them in the rearranged game.
“Honestly, it’s just pathetic from Arsenal. They have bent the rules.”
