Tottenham insider tells Winks to do his talking ‘on the pitch’ after ‘terrible’ interview

John Wenham has slammed Harry Winks for moaning to the press after Tottenham lost to Vitesse last week.

Spurs insider Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels, was left fuming with the midfielder.

Winks, 26, was handed a rare start for last week’s Europa Conference League game in Belgium.

Spurs failed to put up much of a fight in their 1-0 loss to Vitesse and after the game, the midfielder spoke to the media.

Winks was quoted by Sky Sports as saying “It is tough. We’re meant to be a team” when asked about Nuno’s decision to only send half of his squad to Belgium.

Wenham was left disappointed by the quotes and slammed Winks’ performances this season.

“The one player who really disappointed me was Harry Winks,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He came out in the press straight away after the game and said something about how hard it was with the team split up.

“Actually, no Harry Winks, that was your chance. Vitesse are a poor side.

“This is a league where Vincent Janssen ran away as the top goalscorer. You need to give Nuno something to think about with a performance.

“Winks was so bad he was omitted from the West Ham squad completely when we can have nine substitutes.

“He’s well down the pecking order. The fact he felt the need to go to the press is terrible. Do your talking on the pitch.

“He can come out and say all of this but he needs to perform on the pitch.

“Winks was poor on the night and he’s been poor all season, so disappointing.”
