‘Tottenham lay groundwork for Son Heung-min transfer after deal agreed’

Tottenham are prepared to accept offers for Son Heung-min this summer amid interest from Saudi Pro League and MLS sides, according to their former scout.

Mick Brown, who also worked as the chief scout for Man United and Sunderland and remains very well-connected at his former clubs, exclusively told Football Insider that Thomas Frank is planning for life without the 33-year-old.

The signing of Mohammed Kudus, alongside interest in the likes of Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze, are set to allow Spurs to move in a new direction.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider in February that Tottenham are concerned about Son’s fitness and longevity as work had already started on identifying replacements.

Brown explained that he might be slowing down and losing his pace, which previously made him such a dangerous option in Spurs’ attack.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed in June that Son could leave Tottenham this summer as Spurs see it as the “ideal opportunity” to cash in on the South Korea international.

Tottenham plan to accept Son offer as replacement lined up

Brown told Football Insider in February that Tottenham are aiming to replace Son as the forward’s “legs have gone” despite his importance in the squad.

The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that “the time has come” for all parties to move on should an interested club make an offer.

Tottenham are prepared to let Son leave this summer,” he told Football Insider.

“If you look at the business they’re doing, or trying to do, it seems it would pave the way for all parties to move on and head in a new direction.

“Kudus has come in from West Ham, and they’re looking at names like Gibbs-White and Eze.

“While they don’t play in the same position as Son, the manager is clearly strengthening his attacking options and feels he can replace what Son brings.

“I think the time has come for everybody to move on.

“He’s done very well at Tottenham and he’s a legend there, but time catches up with everybody.

“There’s interest in him from Saudi Arabia and the MLS, those are the options that are available.

“If an offer comes in that makes sense for Spurs, I’m sure they’ll be prepared to let him go and he will be open to exploring a new opportunity.”

Brentford respond to Spurs’ interest in Bryan Mbeumo

Alongside speculation about Son’s future, Spurs are continuing to consider alternative options to lead Frank’s side going into the new season.

Brown told Football Insider on 16 June that Tottenham are considering signing Yoane Wissa, who had been a leading man for Frank in his time at Brentford.

However, Football Insider revealed on 13 July that Brentford won’t sell both Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo, with the latter close to joining Man United.

The Bees are prepared to do all they can to keep the DR Congo forward at the club should his teammate leave, and will not sanction moves for both amid a turbulent window.
