Tottenham make striker signing decision as medical begins – sources

Tottenham Hotspur are intent on signing a striker by the end of August as they continue to prioritise their attack.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Ange Postecoglou wants to strengthen in this area.

Spurs struggled to replace Harry Kane since he departed the club last season, and that has now become a focal point for the Premier League outfit this summer.

Football Insider revealed the club have identified Santiago Gimenez and Ivan Toney as possible options.

According to sources, Tottenham do have money to spend this summer if they can identify the right players.

The club have already signed Archie Gray from Leeds United for £40million, and his versatility means he can cover several areas of the pitch.

Even though Spurs have money to spend this summer, sources believe the kitty could be boosted with potential departures.

It is believed that the focus right now is on getting fringe players off the books, and then they will spend all of that money before the window closes.

Japhet Tanganga recently departed the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to join Millwall, and others could follow him out of the door.

Football Insider reported that Sergio Reguilon has been put up for sale this summer at a cut price of £10million.

As exclusively revealed by Football Insider early on Friday, Troy Parrott is currently undergoing a medical ahead of a seven-figure move to AZ Alkmaar, which could be wrapped up in the next 24 hours.

Even though improving their attacking options is important for Spurs this summer, the club will also look to strengthen at the other end of the pitch.

Spurs are hoping to find a central defender that is capable of providing depth to Postecoglou’s squad, should any injury problems arise this season.
