Tottenham make surprise approach to sign Premier League forward

Tottenham have remained active in the January transfer window as they look to turn their dreadful form around.

Thomas Frank is under serious pressure at Spurs, with their 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday doing little to end the calls for him to be sacked.

Tottenham have already brought in Conor Gallagher as they look to improve their depth in the middle of the park.

Now, they have turned to their Premier League rivals West Ham for reinforcements, as they eye Crysencio Summerville.

Tottenham make enquiry for West Ham’s Crysencio Summerville

Summerville has had a tough time since he moved to the London Stadium in 2024.

The winger was previously Leeds United’s star man as they narrowly missed out on promotion in the 2023-24 campaign.

Nevertheless, he was quickly given the chance to showcase his talents in the Premier League at West Ham.

However, injuries and inconsistent form have resulted in West Ham fans consistently criticising Summerville, with the 24-year-old only scoring three goals for the Hammers to date.

Nevertheless, Tottenham have now emerged as a potential destination for the Netherlands star this winter.

According to Ben Jacobs via X on 21 January, Spurs have made an enquiry for the winger.

West Ham value Summerville at £25million, and it remains to be seen if the North London club are prepared to match this.

Can Summerville make an impact at Tottenham?

According to Fotmob on 21 January, Summerville’s stats this season in the Premier League are nothing to shout about.

The 24-year-old is currently averaging 0.07 goals, a 0.17 xG, 0.07 assists and 0.87 chances created per game.

One positive is his on-the-ball skills, with the winger making 1.60 successful dribbles and winning 2.47 fouls each match.

Summerville’s stats this season aren’t great

This was on show in Tottenham’s latest Premier League defeat, as Summerville netted the opener in the 2-1 win for the Hammers with a deflected shot off Micky van de Ven.

However, Spurs have found success from West Ham in recent times. Mohammed Kudus was extremely poor at the London Stadium last season, but has been solid for Tottenham this season.

Yet, it remains to be seen if Summerville will go down a similar route if Spurs complete the deal over the coming weeks before deadline day.
