Tottenham making ‘real statement’ after source’s Clement Lenglet update – pundit
The signing of Clement Lenglet is a “real statement” from Tottenham and shows Antonio Conte is not happy with finishing fourth in the Premier League.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Spurs’ attempts to sign a new defender.
On Thursday (30 June) A Spurs source told Football Insider that an agreement has been reached with Barcelona for the loan of defender Lenglet.

The North London club have agreed to pay a loan fee of more than £4million for the 27-year-old France international, who has been identified to slot into the left-sided centre-back role in Antonio Conte’s favoured back three.
Kenny insists the arrival of Lenglet proves Conte’s target is to challenge Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City next season.
“If they can get these players on board it really helps them,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“It’s key that they keep strengthening because they have a gap to fill. I’m sure Conte doesn’t want to be hanging around trying to get into the top four.
“He wants to be out there pushing for third, second or first, really going for it. It’s a big signing, a real statement from Tottenham.
“Once again, I’m saying I can’t wait to see how they get on next season.”

Lenglet made 27 appearances for Barca during the 2021-22 season.
He has made 160 total appearances for the club.
