Tottenham may be prepared to field offers for first teamer after contract dispute – report

By Dominic Toner

Tottenham may be prepared to listen to offers for midfielder Erik Lamela, according to a report.

The Times claim that Spurs may cash in on the 25-year-old after a string of disputes with the Argentinian, who has not featured since October due to injury.

It is understood that Lamela was set to undergo talks for a new deal this summer and wanted to improve his wages from £65,000-a-week to £120,000-a-week, but the club are reluctant to open negotiations.

The report details that there has also been a disagreement on whether Lamela requires surgery on his hip injury.

The Times claim that the winger has told friends he will not be able to feature again this season, but the north London club feel the claim is premature.

It is believed that Spurs are frustrated with his lack of progress from injury, despite allowing him to visit physiotherapist Damiano Stefanini from his former club Roma.

Lamela’s absence has certainly been a notable omission for Spurs during the majority of the campaign, with the squad looking a little thin at time.

The tricky winger began the season in good form, scoring two goals and supplying seven assists in his 14 appearances before his injury setback.

Pochettino has had to rely on the supply of Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen, Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son as the main source of goals, with summer signing Moussa Sissoko failing to make the desired impact.

Lamela moved to White Hart Lane and has made 121 appearances for Spurs, but may have played his last game for the club.
