Tottenham might ‘never concede again’ after Alessandro Bastoni update – expert

Tottenham should prioritise the signing of Alessandro Bastoni this summer.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

As per The Athletic (7 April), Tottenham’s top priority this summer is to sign a left-sided centre-back to play alongside Cristian Romero and Eric Dier.

That report claims the club’s top targets are RB Leipzig’s Joško Gvardiol, 20, Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni, 23, Lille’s Sven Botman, 22, and Freiburg’s Nico Schlotterbeck, 22.

Bastoni is a left-footed centre-back who is already a key player for Inter Milan and Wenham claims he is the man Spurs should be targetting.

“Bastoni is my preference all day,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He has a nice height to him, 23 years of age and already 11 caps for Italy.

“He already knows Conte so that is a big bonus for him coming and slotting in straight away.

“I think if you add him to a back three with Dier and Romero, we might never concede again.

“We would be absolutely laughing with that back three. I really like him, he’s the one I would go for all day.”

Bastoni has made 38 appearances in all competitions for Inter Milan so far this season.

He also knows Antonio Conte very well, making 74 appearances under him while he was in charge of Inter.
