Tottenham news: Emerson Royal tipped to lead exodus as only six players safe from Antonio Conte axe – Agbonlahor

Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed only six Tottenham players are guaranteed a place in the squad next season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Emerson Royal could lead a mass exodus from Spurs.

The 23-year-old looks set to play a major role in the final weeks of the season as Spurs look to secure a top-four finish.

Tottenham

football.london reported on Sunday (10 April) that Matt Doherty season is over after he suffered a knee injury in the 4-0 win over Aston Villa the day before.

That victory put them three points clear of Arsenal in fifth with their north London rivals set to visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next month (12 May).

But Agbonlahor has claimed that will not satisfy Antonio Conte who will be craving trophy success.

He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Wing-backs are big for Conte.

“Emerson Royal I don’t think is good enough, especially going forward on the ball. Sergio Reguilon, I do like and Ryan Sessegnon is up and coming.

“Conte is going to make a lot of big changes. He’s not going to just be happy to finish in the top four, he’ll want to go for league titles, that’s what he’s used to.

“If you look at that squad, Dejan Kulusevski, Rodrigo Bentancur, Hugo Lloris, Heung-min Son, Harry Kane and Cristian Romero, apart from them nobody’s safe. Romero looks very good, very strong and very aggressive.

“The others are not title-winning players.”

Tottenham are now on a run of four consecutive Premier League victories having scored 14 goals in the process.

They are next in action on Saturday (16 April) as they host Brighton & Hove Albion.
