Tottenham news: Expert issues ‘critical’ Lucas Moura claim after early team news confirmed

Noel Whelan has claimed Lucas Moura’s return from injury could be “massive” for Tottenham and Antonio Conte.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 29-year-old is “just as important” as Harry Kane and Heung-min Son to Spurs.

Moura has missed Tottenham’s last two games with a dead leg – including the embarrassing 1-0 loss against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup last week (1 March).

As quoted by football.london (4 March), Conte confirmed the Brazillian is “available” for selection for tonight’s (7 March) clash against Everton.

Moura has been replaced by Dejan Kulusevski in the starting eleven after the on-loan Juventus midfielder’s explosive start in a Tottenham shirt.

Nevertheless, Whelan suggested the former PSG and Sao Paulo star can “win a game all by himself”.

“I really admire Lucas Moura, I think he’s a brilliant player,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“He’s one of these players who can change a game, and on his day he is just as important as Son and Kane.

“He can win a game all by himself, and to have that option back in a squad which has really struggled for form and wins is massive.

“At this stage of the season, when you’re on this last leg – you need all these types of players available.

“To have him back will be such a welcome return for Conte because he’s experienced, he’s wise. It’s critical and he can be the difference.”

Tottenham

Tottenham can close the gap to fourth-placed rivals Arsenal to just three points with a win tonight.

Conte’s side ran out 4-0 winners against Leeds in their last Premier League fixture.
