Tottenham news: ‘Massive’ Djed Spence claim issued by expert after ‘incredible’ update
Djed Spence is “ready for the next level” and “massively fits the bill” for Tottenham, according to Alan Hutton.
The former Spurs defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 21-year-old has been “incredible” on loan at Nottingham Forest this term.
As per the Daily Express (1 March), Spence is being tracked by as many as 14 clubs ahead of the summer transfer window – including giants from the Premier League, La Liga and the Bundesliga.
According to ESPN (31 January), Tottenham saw two transfer deadline day bids for the wing-back rejected.
Spence has impressed for loan club Forest this season, especially in the FA Cup – where the Midlands club have dispatched Arsenal and Leicester.
Hutton insisted Antonio Conte will want to “strengthen” the wing-back area despite the impressive form of Ryan Sessegnon and Matt Doherty.
“We know Tottenham are a massive club with an elite manager now,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“He’ll be looking to stamp his own style on this side within the next transfer window. Spence is a boy who has come through and looks ready for the next level, in my opinion. He’s been incredible for Forest.
“There’s a chance within that Spurs team, with the formation and system they play, for someone to really go ahead and thrive.
“Sessegnon and Doherty have been playing well, and we saw that against Leeds – but Conte will want to strengthen.
“Spence massively fits the bill for Conte and that system, there’s no doubt.”

Tottenham were knocked out of the FA Cup by Spence’s parent club Middlesbrough last night (1 March).
The wing-back has netted two and assisted three for Forest so far this term.
