Tottenham news: Pundit can’t believe Antonio Conte transformation – baffled by missing passion
Alex McLeish has claimed Antonio Conte’s frustrations could stem from the inadequate “quality” in his Tottenham squad.
The former Scotland boss, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested Spurs have “flatlined” in recent weeks.
As quoted by The Guardian, Conte said he was “disappointed and frustrated” after his Tottenham side bowed out of the FA Cup with a 1-0 loss against Middlesbrough on Tuesday (1 March).

The medical staff at the north London club are the subject of the Italian’s latest ire after he called on his club doctors to explain the reason for Oliver Skipp’s injury setback in a pre-match press conference yesterday (4 March).
McLeish suggested the lack of flexibility from his players may be the underlying reason for Conte’s anger as he looks to revolutionise the London club.
“I watched the Middlesbrough game the other night,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“Conte is normally out roaring at his players for every single minute of the game, but I didn’t see that during the game.
“You wonder just how frustrated he is. They’ve had some great results but they’ve just averaged themselves out with some poorer games. They’ve flatlined in recent weeks.
“Conte’s frustration may well be with the players. He may feel that Spurs are just lacking the quality to adapt to his system, and that’s why he was so desperate to do some business in January.”

Tottenham have already lost seven games since New Year’s Day having lost just twice under Conte in 2021.
Spurs currently sit seventh in the Premier League, five points adrift of fourth-placed Man United.
