Tottenham news: Pundit drops ‘exceptional’ Man United claim in Harry Kane quit verdict

Alan Hutton has claimed Manchester United are closer to success than Tottenham with Harry Kane linked with a move to Old Trafford.

The former Spurs defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 28-year-old will have big trophy aspirations as the summer window approaches.

As reported by The Mirror on Monday (14 March), Man United are considering reigniting their interest in Kane this summer but know it will cost £100million to do a deal.

Kane is yet to lift a major honour with Tottenham despite netting 243 goals in a Lilywhites shirt.

Man United’s last trophy came in 2017 when Jose Mourinho led the side to Europa League and League Cup triumph.

However, Hutton claimed a top manager could help “knit together” the “exceptional” squad at Old Trafford in pursuit of silverware.

When asked if Man United are closer to success than Tottenham, he told Football Insider‘s Russell Edge: “I would say so.

“With everything that’s gone on in history and all these exceptional players – it’s just about knitting it together.

“It’s just about getting a manager in with the right philosophy and ideas, and really building something at Man United.

“I think that’s their biggest problem at the moment. They’re a team of individuals – and that could be seen with Ronaldo against Tottenham, his brilliance is getting them over the line.

“But all that said, Kane will want to win things and Man United are still ahead of Tottenham in the hunt for a trophy.”
