Tottenham news: Pundit issues Harry Kane quit ‘prediction’ after journalist’s update
Alex McLeish has tipped Harry Kane to quit Tottenham for a Champions League contender this summer.
The former Scotland manager, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, admitted Spurs would have to become an “incessant winning team” to convince the 28-year-old to stay.
As reported by the Athletic’s David Ornstein on Monday (24 February), Kane is assessing the club’s progress and outlook before deciding whether to open contract talks.
The England striker will reportedly consider running out his contract, which expires in 2024, if he is not sold this summer.
However, McLeish revealed he expects Kane to move before next season.
“My prediction would be that he will leave,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“I think I said that before and he didn’t but I have to believe Harry will try and get to one of the bigger clubs. Spurs are a huge club, don’t get me wrong.
“But he’ll want to go to a club that are achieving far more consistently than Spurs.
“If Spurs become an incessant winning team, it’s possible he’ll want to stay with the manager. He will then believe the manager has re-galvanized the team.
“He could possibly see him as the father figure-type thing. Saying things like: ‘I love him, I’m not going to go, I see a future and we’re going to win things with this guy.’
“But my money would be on him going to a club who have a better chance of winning not only the league but the Champions League.”

Kane has scored 17 goals in 35 appearances this season.
Spurs currently sit eighth in the Premier League table following Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat to Burnley.
