Tottenham news: Pundit ‘sure’ on Harry Kane transfer this summer after Man United latest

Noel Whelan has claimed Harry Kane will remain at Tottenham beyond this summer and “have a real go at making history” at the club.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted a Man United switch for the 28-year-old would be a “really strange and backwards move”.

Speaking to the London Evening Standard (16 May), Kane revealed he is “looking forward” to working with Antonio Conte “next season” – in a major hint about where his future lies.

The England captain, who is contracted until June 2024, has been linked with Man United ahead of the arrival of Erik ten Hag.

Kane has recovered from seeing a possible Man City move collapse last summer (2021) to notch 26 goals and nine assists across all competitions this term.

Whelan suggested the three-time Premier League Golden Boot winner wouldn’t be “as prolific” if he were to leave Spurs.

“The only place you could realistically see him going is Man United or Man City,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“Man City have gone out and got Haaland. Going to Man United right now would be a really strange, backwards move.

“I don’t think he would be as prolific at Man United. He suits Tottenham down to the ground.

“The only other option for him would be the top European clubs. But I’m sure he wants to have a real go at making history with Tottenham.”
