Tottenham news: Pundit ‘wowed’ by source’s Ivan Perisic update – ‘that’s never happened before’

Tottenham are finally listening to their manager and that can only be good news for the club.

That’s according to former West Ham hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about an update on Ivan Perisic’s proposed move to Tottenham.

As revealed by Football Insider (28 May) Perisic, 33, is close to signing for Tottenham from Inter Milan.

The wide man leaves Inter after the expiry of his deal and could become Antonio Conte’s second summer signing.

This site was told by a recruitment source (28 May) that Spurs have wrapped up a deal for Fraser Forster and he has already completed a medical.

McAvennie insists the Perisic deal proves Daniel Levy is finally listening to his manager.

“Wow, if Perisic is signing then Levy must finally be listening to Conte,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“The guy is 33 so there is no resale value there and that is what Tottenham have been about recently.

“He is an experienced pro who can give so much to the younger players there.

“I’m sure he will do a job as well. Conte knows him and that is so important.

“He’s also a winner and Tottenham haven’t had many of them. It seems to me that Conte is in full control.

“That can only be good news for Tottenham because they are listening to a manager and that’s never happened before.”
