Sources: Tottenham open talks to agree Walcott deal

Tottenham are in talks with a number of League One clubs over a loan move for Malachi Fagan-Walcott, Football Insider understands.

The 19-year-old is highly-regarded at Spurs and has been regularly training with Antonio Conte’s first team.

A Spurs source has told Football Insider that the club’s coaches believe Fagan-Walcott will be best served by going out on loan next season.

Initial discussions have been held with League One clubs eager to secure an early agreement for the central defender.

Spurs confirmed last month that Fagan-Walcott, alongside fellow centre-half Brooklyn Lyons-Foster, had signed fresh terms until 2023.

That came after this site revealed in February that the youngster was in advanced talks with the North London club over a new deal.

He signed his first professional contract with the club in November 2019 at the age of 17.

The London-born defender made his senior debut as a late substitute in the Champions League last-16 defeat to RB Leipzig in March 2020.

He spent three months on loan with Dundee in the Scottish Championship last term before he was forced to return to Spurs after a hamstring injury.

The youngster made only two appearances north of the border and has not yet added to his solitary Spurs outing.

Spurs insider John Wenham told this site last month that club legend Ledley King “really rates” the impressive academy graduate.

The England youth international has scored twice in 17 appearances for Spurs under-23s this term.
