Tottenham player ratings v Man City: Mainstay an awful 4/10, team not good enough

Goalkeeper and defenders

Hugo Lloris (Goalkeeper) – 5: Without Lloris it easily could have been five or six. The 30-year-old made two superb first-half stops to deny Aguero and Gundogan and made a brilliant one-handed save to deny Leroy Sane after half-time. With that said, he could have done better for the goal by De Bruyne and was embarrassed by Sterling for number four. His distribution was also poor.

Kieran Trippier (Right-back) – 4: Endured a torrid afternoon at right-back, was turned inside out countless times by Sane. Was also caught out of position a few times.

Eric Dier (Centre-back) – 4: Made a couple of great blocks and interceptions in the first half but was at fault for the fourth goal when he misjudged Bernado Silva’s through pass, allowing Sterling to swoop in and tuck the ball through Lloris’ legs.

Jan Vertonghen (Centre-back) – 5: Gave away a second-half penalty for a poor challenge on De Bruyne, otherwise, a decent defensive performance.

Danny Rose (Left-back)- 6: A decent performance. Managed to get forward down the left a few times, with mixed success. Made a couple of really crucial tackles and interceptions in the first-half.
