Moved over to the right back slot after starring on the left last week against Liverpool it was not the most impressive of performances from the summer signing.
He struggled to deal with what United threw at him down their left, and he did not show the same attacking instincts as he has done in previous games.
Fighting for a constant place in the side with Kieran Trippier, this did not prove Pochettino’s decision to drop the England defender to be the right one.
A Champions League match against Real Madrid could be the deciding factor in who nails a regular starting position in the league.
