By no means a shining performance from the Spaniard, who will be lucky to find himself anywhere near the starting XI after Tuesday’s outing.
While he worked relatively hard in the first half, he was completely absent for the second, and it took his substitution to realise he was not already sitting on the substitute’s bench.
Pochettino wanted to try something different but really the gamble seemed to have no real effect on the game, which would have been disappointing for all the fans to see.
Perhaps his fitness is lacking, and if that is the case then it is back to playing a bit part role, as he is never going to usurp Harry Kane.
