Tottenham player ratings v Real Madrid: Regular starter completely invisible – must be questioned

It is fair to say that the Ivory Coast international’s performance had everything in it against Real Madrid.
Returning to the side to continue his run of starting every one of Spurs’ Champions League game this season, he went from hero to zero at the Bernabeu.
Aurier’s cross was the catalyst for Varane to inadvertently turn the ball into his own net, but he was also the one to perform an unnecessary lunge in the penalty box to give away a foul and potentially three points.
However, the rest of his performance was impressive as he matched up to Marcelo and the rest of the Real Madrid left flank, hence the decent mark of 7.
