Tottenham ready to green light Timo Werner deal on one condition – sources
Timo Werner’s Tottenham future could depend on whether they qualify for the Champions League this season, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (18 March) that Spurs are yet to make a final decision on signing the 28-year-old permanently.
He joined Tottenham on loan from RB Leipzig in January and the Lilywhites have the option to make the deal permanent this summer for a fee of around £15million.
Ange Postecoglou and his transfer chiefs are prioritising younger talent in the transfer market but are aware they need experience – and believe Werner fits the bill.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the fee is seen as a “steal” by Spurs – who have been pleased with Werner’s integration at the club.

But it is believed a deal could depend on potential Champions League qualification – which is worth a minimum of £14million.
As per FBRef, Werner currently earns £165,000-a-week at RB Leipzig – where he is under contract until June 2026.
Tottenham currently sit fifth in the Premier League and are three points away from fourth-place Aston Villa with a game in hand on the Midlands club.

Werner has made nine appearances across all competitions for Spurs since joining, notching two goals and two assists.
He has played only as a left-winger so far during his time with Postecoglou’s side – but has previously led the line for Leipzig and Chelsea.
