Expert issues ‘best in the world claim’ as Tottenham agree Gianni Vio deal
Tottenham can eat up the ground on the “best [teams] in the world” through the use of specialist coaches like Gianni Vio.
That is the view of training ground expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis.
As relayed by Training Ground Guru last Monday (11 July), Spurs have appointed Vio as their first ever set piece coach.

The 69-year-old Italian became English football’s first set piece coach with Brentford in 2015-16.
He has since worked under Roberto Mancini with the Italian national team.
Man City and Liverpool are both famed for their use of specialist coaches.
Dinnery insists that Spurs are smart to follow suit.
“Man City and Liverpool are among the best in world football partly because of their return from set pieces,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“They are looking to try and emulate that. They maybe aren’t graced with the same budget or squad, so they are looking to work those angles and do things to play to your strengths.
“Conte will have his players fit and well drilled. This set piece angle is just another cog in that wheel to maximise their output.

“Sometimes you need a moment of magic or a set-piece to find a way through in a game. Top clubs can go for that.
“It is seen as a way of bringing something extra into the team without having to go and spend millions.”
