Sources: Tottenham and Everton in race to sign Alex Scott
Tottenham are keeping close tabs on Bristol City sensation Alex Scott, Football Insider understands.
Scouts from the Premier League giants are understood to have been blown away by the attacking midfielder, 18, who has been dubbed the ‘Guernsey Grealish’ for his playing style and appearance.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Tottenham are compiling a dossier on Scott before deciding whether to push ahead with a formal offer.
Everton are also closely monitoring Scott’s situation, while he is also of interest to Leicester City.
The Championship club are bracing themselves for offers for the rising star now the summer window is about to open for business.
Spurs’ former manager David Pleat is actively involved in checking out Scott’s character and background through his vast network of contacts.
The 77-year-old works as an adviser to Tottenham and is used as a sounding board on transfers by chairman Daniel Levy, particularly on young players.
Bristol City protected one of their prize assets by securing him to a new four-year deal last August that runs until the summer of 2025.
The teenager is regarded as one of the best talents outside of the top flight.
Born in the Channel Island of Guernsey, he has been dubbed the ‘Guernsey Grealish’ for having his socks rolled down and ability to dribble, commit players and win free-kicks in dangerous areas.
Scott has had an impressive season for struggling Bristol City after graduating from their academy and establishing himself in the first team.
He has made 35 Championship starts among 39 appearances in all competitions, which have yielded four goals and two assists.
Capable of playing in central midfield or various attacking midfield roles, he has been capped by England at age-group level.
Scott, who previously trained with Southampton and Bournemouth while living in Guernsey, has impressed for the England Under-19s.
