‘Tottenham staff concerned about Son Heung-min’ after latest
Tottenham have grown concerned about the performances of Son Heung-min so far this season, according to their former scout.
Mick Brown, who also worked as the chief scout at Man United and Blackburn and remains very well-connected at his former clubs, exclusively told Football Insider that they could move to replace the forward in the summer transfer window.
So far this season, the 32-year-old has scored ten goals and provided eight assists in 32 games across all competitions, but new questions have been asked about his consistency.
It has been suggested that his legs have begun to slow down, and his performances are no longer matching the level he has shown in recent seasons.
Brown echoed the opinion that Tel could be seen as his long-term replacement, but suggested they could also look in the market again to provide further competition.
Tottenham concerned about Son Heung-min performances
Ange Postecoglou’s side have struggled so far this season, dropping to 14th in the Premier League table with just eight wins from their 24 games so far.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience working with players at the top level including over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that Son’s drop in performances has been disappointing as he is viewed as their talisman.
“Bergvall has done well for them, Archie Gray has done well, and Kulusevski has done well,” he told Football Insider.
“But I’ve been disappointed in Son and the way he’s been playing this season.
“He’s started to find a bit of form recently, but he doesn’t look like the same player he used to be.
“The manager, the club and the team have needed him to step up and carry the flag, but he hasn’t.

“That, I hear, is a bit of a concern for the coaching staff because he’s supposed to be their talisman.
“For the last few years he’s been so consistent and reliable, he scores goals he gets them up the pitch and he’s running in behind.
“But now the goals have started to dry up and he looks to have slowed down a bit.
“He’s getting on a bit as well, what is he, 32?
“So perhaps he’s coming towards the end of his time playing in the way he has been for years, in terms of his ability to make those runs in behind with pace.
“That’s something they’ll have to determine in the summer, and perhaps go and sign somebody to provide some competition, unless that’s what Tel has come in for.”

Daniel Levy ready to spend big after club-record bid made
Tottenham saw a late £70million bid to sign Marc Guehi rejected by Crystal Palace in January in a last-ditch attempt to strengthen their defensive line.
Spurs are now expected to spend big in the summer, after Ange Postecoglou’s squad has been decimated by injuries given the lack of strength in depth available.
Fans have been putting pressure on Levy to act in recent weeks with protests at their home games, and those are believed to have forced his hand.
