Tottenham star hailed by pundit for avoiding Tanguy Ndombele mistake
Paul Robinson has applauded Tottenham wing-back Ryan Sessegnon for his reaction to being substituted against Wolves.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-White Hart Lane number one was pleased to see the 21-year-old take Antonio Conte’s decision “the right way” unlike Tanguy Ndombele earlier in the season.
Sessegnon was substituted just 28 minutes into Tottenham’s 2-0 loss to Wolves on Sunday.
Antonio Conte brought Dejan Kulusevski on to replace the England Under-21 international.
Robinson backed Sessegnon to come back stronger from the experience.
“Listen, it is hard for anybody to be substituted at that time of the game,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.
“Look, he’s a very talented young footballer. You have to stand up and be big and take it as part of your development.
“The manager believed he needed to change personnel. You have to suck it up and get on with it if you are Sessegnon.
“I respect him for the way that he went off the field. He did not sulk like we have seen other players do. He got off the pitch at the nearest point. That was far from ideal for him, he walked round half of the stadium.
“He decided to do what was best for the team. Unlike others that we’ve seen this year, like Ndombele, Sessegnon took it in the right way.
“He would not have been happy but he showed mental strength. I’d expect him now to come back in the right way.”

Ndombele was booed by Spurs fans after trudging off when substituted against Morecambe last month.
The centre-midfielder has since joined Lyon on loan.
In other news, a pundit has predicted Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to be frozen out of the Tottenham XI amid a transfer update.
