Tottenham star tipped for recall v Crystal Palace after ‘big’ Son update – pundit

Paul Robinson has tipped Lucas Moura to step into the Tottenham starting XI against Crystal Palace with Heung-min Son an injury doubt.

The former Spurs keeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Lilywhites have “more than enough” in their squad to replace the South Korean.

In a statement relayed by Sky Sports (September 7th), the Korean FA confirmed Son picked up a calf strain in training.

The injury casts doubt on his availability for the trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Son has been in inspired form for Tottenham this term, scoring goals in victories against Manchester City and Watford.

Robinson conceded that Son would be a “big miss” for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, but tipped Moura, 29, as a “quality” replacement.

“He’s the first name on the Spurs teamsheet alongside Harry Kane,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“He’s an outstanding player for Spurs, and he’ll be a big miss.

“But then you look at the talent they’ve got in the squad. Lucas Moura will always come in and perform, and Steven Bergwijn has had a great start to the season.

“This is why Spurs have got a squad of quality players – they’ve got more than enough to deal with this injury.”

Moura started Spurs’ opening two games of the season but was dropped for the win over Watford.

Spurs sit top of the Premier League having picked up maximum points from three matches.

Son signed a contract extension at the club in July of this year, keeping him at Spurs until 2025.

The forward joined the North London side in 2015 from Bayer Leverkusen.
