Kieran Maguire: Tottenham have blown Arsenal out of the water amid £162m reveal

Tottenham have overtaken Arsenal in terms of commercial income – and their rise is set to continue.

That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest news from behind the scenes in North London.

A source told this site on Thursday (22 December) that Spurs will reveal club-record commercial income of over £161.5million when they release their accounts for 2021-22.

That figure will rise again when they eventually announce a stadium naming rights partner, a deal which most analysts suggest will net the club an extra £20m per year.

Maguire revealed that Tottenham are now the fourth-biggest earner from sponsorship and merchandising in the Premier League and could soon surpass Chelsea in third.

Spurs have already overtaken Arsenal in terms of commercial income,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

I think this is a testament to the vision of Daniel Levy and his team in trying to address getting greater control than they have over broadcast income.

There is potential volatility there if you don’t qualify for the Champions League.

Spurs could very easily overtake Chelsea as well as Arsenal, which would put them into a very creditable 4th place in the Premier League.

I think it would be a much larger challenge however to catch up with the two Manchester clubs and Liverpool who all earn in excess of £200m per year from commercial income.
