Tottenham have offered a two-year scholarship contract to rising star defender Pele Arganese-McDermott, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The centre-back, who was signed last season from Luton Town for the Under-15s, is highly thought of at the club.

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider the club are working on securing Arganese-McDermott to a scholarship deal that would see him part of next year's Academy intake.

The teenager is a tall defender who typically plays at centre-back but can also slot into other roles.

He has made such an impression at age-group level that Tottenham prised him from Luton despite competing interest from Liverpool and Chelsea.

Arganese-McDermott is among a clutch of rising stars who have already been offered early scholarships by the London giants.

Football Insider revealed the club have also offered the two-year deals to 15-year-old attacker Samuel Amo-Ameyaw as well as 15-year-old centre-back Archie Chaplin and 15-year-old goalkeeper Elliot Krasniqi.

Spurs typically offer scholarships around February or March, with the deals then starting on 1 June.

But Tottenham, like with Krasniqi, Amo-Ameyaw and Chaplin, are keen to tie down Arganese-McDermott straight away to avoid him being snapped up by rival teams.

The north Londoners have a fine record of nurturing top young talent, with international stars Harry Kane and Harry Winks the star graduates of their youth system.

More recently, the club are hoping the trio can follow in the footsteps of teenagers Dane Scarlett, Alfie Devine and Nile John.

The academy products have all made their first-team debuts over the last year.
