Tottenham are in talks with Sheffield United over a summer swoop for wonderkid David Brooks, according to a reliable journalist.
Sun reporter Alan Nixon claimed on his personal Twitter account on Sunday that Spurs are eyeing up a big money move for Brooks, 20, when the transfer window re-opens at the end of the season.
The Mirror reported in November that Tottenham are leading the chase to sign Brooks, who is valued at £20million by Sheffield United.
The dazzling forward has been a sensation at Bramall Lane this season, getting everyone talking about his potential after a series of impressive performances in the Championship.
He has made 22 appearances in all competitions, scored two goals and supplied four assists.
The former Halifax Town star, who can play as a centre-forward or in attacking midfield, even earned his full international debut for Wales in November.
Football Insider verdict
Brooks is a very talented young player. He has been doing wonders at Sheffield United but it seems manager Chris Wilder is still being very careful about the young attacker. The two-times Wales international has been out injured since December and has only recently started to make any progress to featuring again. That setback should not have stunted his development too much, but it should be something that Mauricio Pochettino should be wary of. The last Welsh attacker signed up by Spurs did alright, so Brooks will be a very good investment for the future.
In other Tottenham news, Spurs are in the hunt to sign this elite forward who was worth £58million in 2015.
