Tottenham tipped to agree ‘big deals’ with Chelsea wantaways after £40m update

Tottenham could steal some of Chelsea’s corporate sponsors amid the club’s uncertain future.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Some of Chelsea’s sponsors have suspended their deals with the club after Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the UK government on Thursday (10 March).

Shirt sponsors ‘3’, whose deal is reportedly worth £40million-per-year, and Hyundai are two of the biggest names to suspend their deals.

This came after Roman Abramovich revealed he would listen to offers for Chelsea via a club statement on 2 March though this has been complicated by the sanctions.

Wenham wants Spurs to start work on securing some new deals with partners who want to exit their agreements with Chelsea.

“I’m just looking at some of Chelsea’s deals, Nike makes their kits, just like us,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“There are other companies looking to get out of Chelsea, can Tottenham make themselves more attractive and gain some corporate sponsors from Chelsea?

“There is a lot of uncertainty around Chelsea at the moment. I want the marketing team and partnership teams at Tottenham looking at that.

“I think there is an opportunity to make this really benefit us here and agree some big deals with these companies.

“We are usually good at stuff like that so that’s something to keep an eye on.”

Chelsea’s future remains uncertain with Petr Cech telling Sky Sports on Sunday (13 March) the club is being run on a “day to day basis”.

The club is unable to agree any new deals or draw in any revenue from avenues such as match tickets and merchandise.
