Kieran Maguire tips Tottenham to copy Man City after ‘talk’ over unexpected move
Tottenham may follow in the footsteps of Man City and find innovative ways to squeeze more profit from advertising.
So says finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the possibility of a return to behind-closed-doors matches.
BBC Sport reported on Monday (20 December) that Premier League clubs have voted to plough on with the festive schedule as normal.

But the Covid-19 situation is volatile, with numbers rising among the general population and swathes of games being postponed in the top flight.
Per the Daily Mail last Friday (17 December), the league will televise all matches in the event that fans are eventually shut out of stadiums.
This would hit Tottenham, who earned £92.5million in matchday income in the last non-Covid-hit season, especially hard.
But Maguire claims that the North London club would offset some of the losses through innovative advertising initiatives at their new stadium.
“You’ll get higher rates of pitchside advertising if you’re on TV more often,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“It’s small comfort but it is comfort all the same. It’s vital that fans are catered for as well as clubs if this does happen.
“We are seeing clubs start to innovate in terms of what they can offer perimeter advertisers. Man City, for example, have doubled the size of theirs.
“Spurs have reached this maximum capacity scenario given that they have just moved to the new stadium.
“So they are always looking to generate alternative money forms. There has even been some talk that clubs could create advertising spaces in the stands.
“They will consider everything, but it will still only be a fraction of the money generated by fans.”

Tottenham have been one of the worst-affected clubs by the current spate of coronavirus cases.
But Antonio Conte’s side are still due to play Crystal Palace on Boxing Day.
