Tottenham to make ’emergency signing’ amid ‘shocking’ Hugo Lloris development – pundit

Tottenham will fast-track a move for a new goalkeeper this month after another Hugo Lloris mistake.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the stopper’s form.

Lloris, 36, failed to hold on to a tame long-range Douglas Luiz effort in the buildup to Aston Villa’s first goal against Tottenham on Sunday (1 January).

As per Opta, the Spurs stopper how now made three errors leading to goals this season.

McManus claims Tottenham will now be considering fast-tracking a move for a new keeper this month.

“It’s happened again. How many times is this going to happen this season?” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“That’s three errors now and it’s only January. Bearing in mind we missed nearly two months because of the World Cup, that’s shocking.

“If you are Tottenham and you are trying to hold onto a top-four place you need to be doing better than that.

“Let’s remember, Tottenham’s defence is poor at the best of times so at the very least you need a competent goalkeeper who can bail you out.

“How has he not held onto that Bunedia shot? It’s an easy gather. I’ve had this problem with Lloris for a while now, I just don’t think he’s that good.

“I wonder if Tottenham will now speed up plans to get another keeper in, almost an emergency signing. I think that’s needed because Lloris will cost them more games.

“He’s had mistakes in him for years.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if someone else arrived.”
