Tottenham to open Postecoglou talks – sources

Tottenham are set to open talks with Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou on Monday in a huge new development, sources have told Football Insider.

The Australian, 57, is now in pole position to become the next Spurs manager and discussions will get underway following the end of the Scottish domestic season.

Postecoglou further enhanced his reputation by overseeing a domestic treble with Saturday’s Scottish Cup triumph over Inverness.

Spurs were already convinced he is the man to transform their fortunes following the collapse of negotiations with Arne Slot.

He had been close to agreeing terms before deciding to stay at Feyenoord and sign a new deal with the Dutch club.

The Londoners are now hopeful of being more successful in talks with Postecoglou.

Postecoglou would have to give up European football should he decide to join Spurs this summer, with Aston Villa pipping them to the Europa Conference League spot on the final day of the Premier League season.

But Spurs are able to offer Postecoglou the chance to prove himself in the Premier League after dominating Scottish football since his appointment at Celtic in 2021.

Postecoglou has won both league titles ahead of arch-rivals Rangers since his arrival at Celtic Park, while he has also led the side to the Scottish Cup and two Scottish League Cups.

He has overseen 113 games as Celtic manager and currently boasts a hugely impressive 73.45 per cent win rate with 83 wins and 12 draws.
