Tottenham to sell Japhet Tanganga after what pundit saw this week – ‘disaster’
Japhet Tanganga may have played his last game for Tottenham after a poor performance against Brentford.
That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the defender’s future.
Tanganga, 23, was handed a rare league start, his first of this season, when Tottenham drew 2-2 with Brentford on Boxing Day.
However, with the score at 1-0 to Brentford at halftime, the defender was substituted by Antonio Conte.
McManus claims Tangamga’s days at Tottenham are now numbered.
“The entire Tottenham defence were shocking in that first half, and for the rest of the game, actually,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.
“It was a disaster of a performance. Tanganga, you could tell he had barely played in the last 12 months. When you get taken off at halftime and you are losing, that will shatter you.
“It looks like you are being blamed but I have to say Tottenham didn’t get any better after he went off. It’s just not a good look for him and I don’t know if you come back from that.
“You can see why Conte hasn’t trusted him to play and it’s such a shame because he was such a bright prospect.
“I don’t think he will be at the cub much longer.”

Before the Brentford game, Tanganga’s sole appearance this term came against Marseille on 7 September as he made a 17-minute cameo off the bench.
Tanganga was ruled out for the remainder of the 2021-22 season in mid-March after undergoing surgery on his right knee.
