Tottenham told to accept below-£18m Giovani Lo Celso bid after source’s reveal – expert
Alan Hutton has told Tottenham to “cut their losses” on Giovani Lo Celso.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and Aston Villa defender said the £18million price set by the Lilywhites might be too high.
On Sunday (30 October), sources told this site that Spurs are willing to accept £18m for the 26-year-old in January.
The London club are keen to get the midfielder off their payroll for good in the winter window to generate some cash in anticipation of a busy summer window.
The Argentina international is currently on loan at Villareal for the second season and Tottenham are keen to get him off the wage bill permanently.
Lo Celso joined the London club in 2020 and his current deal runs until 2025.
Hutton suggested the £18m asking price might be too much.
“Obviously it is someone they would have paid a lot of money for and it has not quite worked out,” he told Football Insider.
“Another player that we saw in flashes what he was capable of. £18m is still a lot of money for even a team like Villareal to pay at this moment in time. I think it is going to be difficult for that to come off.

“I do not see a future at Tottenham. I think it is definitely one that they will be more than happy to cut their losses on. Then try and get as much money as possible in to then give to Antonio Conte to put back into the side.
“We will have to wait and see what comes up for him but £18m does seem high.“
