Tottenham told to act quickly to seal Darwin Nunez deal after hijack – pundit

Tottenham could be gazumped by a Premier League rival in their hunt for a Darwin Nunez.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the club’s transfer plans.

On 30 March, 90min reported Tottenham are one of several clubs to have made contact with Nunez‘s agent ahead of a possible summer switch.

The 22-year-old Benfica star has scored 27 goals in 34 total appearances for his side this season.

In January, Spurs lost out on the signings of Adama Traore and Luis Diaz after Barcelona and Liverpool made late bids to steal their respective signings away.

Kenny fears Tottenham could now miss out on the signing of Nunez as well.

“That has to be a worry for Tottenham now,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“You have to be worried for them. If they have made contact then the agent will be letting other clubs know so Spurs need to act quickly.

“As we saw in January, Tottenham is not the most attractive club to play for at the moment.

“Certainly compared to the likes of Liverpool and Barcelona, who stole Traore and Diaz in January.

“I don’t see why that won’t happen again here. It looks like there are a lot of teams interested in Nunez.

“So if Tottenham do have a bid accepted or anything like that, maybe another side will come in and match it.

“That’s just something Tottenham have to deal with at the moment.”

As per The Express (31 March), Arsenal have also been credited with interest in Nunez.

The report claims Tottenham’s rivals want the striker to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

In other news, Tottenham have opened talks over giant striker transfer.
