Tottenham told to complete Wilfried Zaha signing after Dejan Kulusevski U-turn – Agbonlahor

Gabby Agbonlahor has suggested Tottenham should pass up the opportunity to sign Dejan Kulusevski permanently as there are “better options” available.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed Spurs should move for Wilfried Zaha, 30, as he becomes a free agent later this month.

As quoted by football.london (30 May), Kulusevski, 23, has admitted he is in the dark over whether Tottenham plan to activate their option to buy in the loan agreement with parent club Juventus.

The report claims Spurs can choose to sign the Sweden international permanently for a fee of £30.2million.

Kulusevski joined on an 18-month loan in January 2022 and has gone on to notch seven goals and 16 assists in 57 games.

When asked if Tottenham should follow through with the purchase of Kulusevski, Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I’m a bit 50:50 on him – I just don’t know.

“He started the season well but just drifted off so badly.

“I was having this argument with a friend – he’s just not quick enough.

“He always cuts inside. He can’t take players on the outside because he hasn’t got the pace, and it’s like he’s always stretching.

“I look at him and I wonder if he’s the player Spurs need.

“I think it depends on the fee. If you cut it down a bit, then maybe – but I think there are better options.

“I’d go out and get Wilfried Zaha. I think he offers a lot more than Kulusevski, and he’s got that raw pace.

“Imagine Zaha, Kane and Son – that’s frightening.

“I’m just not convinced about Kulusevski, and I think Spurs fans would agree.”
