Tottenham told to sensationally re-sign Gareth Bale – expert says 24-yr-old to make way

Tottenham should sell Steven Bergwijn and replace him with Gareth Bale when he leaves Real Madrid in the summer.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Bale, 32, scored twice as Wales beat Austria on Thursday (24 March), including a stunning free-kick.

The winger, who is out of contract this summer, spent last season on loan at Spurs and scored 11 league goals in just 20 outings.

He notched 16 in 34 in all competitions but has failed to make an impact at Real Madrid this season.

Wenham insists there are several benefits to having Bale back at Tottenham.

“I would have him back today,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He came back last season and scored 11 league goals, he was really, really good.

“If he is used correctly he can be a huge asset to your club. I can see an eventuality where it would be sensible to sell someone like Bergwijn and bring in Bale for free.

“Personally, I would have Bale back. He would also count as homegrown and club affiliated so it would be useful for our squad registrations.

“He’s proved he can still do it. I’m sure he has years left in him at the top level.”

Bale has made five appearances for Real Madrid this season.

He has one goal to his name.
