Tottenham told to spend ‘£100m’ to complete defender signing amid ‘big’ Harry Kane claim – pundit
Frank McAvennie has told Tottenham to spend £100million on a centre-half this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said Spurs need to keep Harry Kane and spend “big” at the end of the season.
According to Sky Sports (16 March), the London club are unwilling to sell Kane, 29, whose current contract expires in 2024.

Spurs are said to have no interest in selling their star striker, regardless of whether he signs a new deal or where they finish in the league.
The England international was on the scoresheet for the 3-3 draw with last-placed Southampton on Saturday (18 March).
Speaking after the match, Antonio Conte slammed the club and his players, claiming they “don’t play for something important” and that that has always been the case at Tottenham.
When asked if Spurs’ head could be turned by an offer of £100m for Kane, McAvennie told Football Insider: “What they should be doing is keeping Harry Kane and buying a £100m centre-half.
“That is what the big clubs do. Man City will improve, Chelsea are improving all the time, Liverpool will certainly buy in the summer. Tottenham are going to be left behind again.
“They need to go and spend £100m, they do not need to sell their best player and bring in Joe Average.

“The strikers that they have brought in to play alongside Kane have been hopeless. I do not think anyone has stepped up, apart from [Heung-min] Son.
“The fans will be furious if they sell Kane and spend the money on three or four players.“
