Expert issues ‘dramatic’ claim as Tottenham transfer plan emerges

The likes of Tottenham should think carefully before they revise their transfer plans according to whether or not their target has the Covid vaccine.

That is the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis.

Spurs are one of a number of Premier League clubs who will not consider signing any player who has not had the vaccine, per football.london last Sunday (17 July).

The likes of Chelsea, Man City and Crystal Palace have encountered problems with entry requirements during their overseas pre-season tours because of un-jabbed players.

But Dinnery insists that will not have a “dramatic impact” on clubs’ schedules in the grand scheme of things.

“Back in December, a lot of managers were banging the drum,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

“If players tested positive back then, they were immediately withdrawn from the squad. Now, if you’re asymptomatic, you carry on regardless.

“The majority of countries within Europe are relatively lax with entry requirements. It’s the US and some others outside Europe where there might be problems.

“So it’s not going to have a dramatic impact in the grand scheme of things. How often do those games come alone? You’ve got pre-season games and the Club World Cup.

“The only problem would be if the players are becoming more symptomatic to the virus and it is impacting on return-to-play and timelines. A lot of data needs to be gathered to make any conclusions like that. It’s a difficult one.”
