Tottenham told to U-turn on Memphis Depay and sign attacking midfielder instead – Hutton
Alan Hutton has claimed Tottenham should not try to sign Memphis Depay this summer as he is not what they need “right now”.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Spurs right-back said the London club should be looking to sign an attacking midfielder instead.
According to Spanish outlet SPORT (17 July), Antonio Conte’s side have made contact with Barcelona over a potential move for the 28-year-old.

The English club have already made six signings this summer, with Conte said to be keen on Depay as their seventh.
Tottenham are reportedly willing to offer £14.5million for the forward whilst the Spanish giants have set the asking price at £17million.
The Dutch international has a year remaining on his contract at the Nou Camp.
When asked if he thought Depay was the kind of player Conte will be looking for, Hutton told Football Insider: “I don’t think so.
“I think they’ve got so many options in the attacking third at this moment in time. Richarlison has come in, [Dejan] Kulusevski came in last season, we know how good Son [Heung-min] and [Harry] Kane are. Lucas Moura is still there. Do they need someone like that? I don’t think so.

“I think, for me, looking at the squad at the moment the priority is an attacking midfielder, somebody who can unlock the defence. I think they’re very defensive in there at this moment in time.
“I don’t think they need Depay right now.“
