Tottenham transfer news: Kenny wowed by insider’s ‘unbelievable’ £500,000-a-week Spurs reveal
Paddy Kenny has hailed “unbelievable business” from Tottenham with the club set to save almost £500,000 per week after some key departures in January.
The former Leeds United stopper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, was stunned to hear how much money Spurs will be saving.
Tottenham expert and Football Insider pundit John Wenham claimed on Twitter on Monday (31 January) that the departures of Tanguy Ndombele, Dele Alli and Giovanni Lo Celso could save the club £430,000 per week in wages.
Alli joined Everton in a permanent move while Ndombele and Lo Celso sealed deadline day loan moves to Lyon and Villarreal respectively.
Kenny called the decision to offload Alli, Ndombele and Lo Celso a “no brainer”.
“That’s almost half a million quid saved every week and those players weren’t playing,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“When I saw that, wow. It was a no brainer for Tottenham to do. It’s a deal that works for everyone.
“£430,000 per week is a stupid amount of money to spend on paying three players who aren’t playing.
“They have done well to get the loan clubs to pay the wages for those players.
“It’s unbelievable business from Tottenham and you can see why they wanted to get rid of those players.”

Tottenham are next in action against Brighton in the FA Cup on Saturday (5 February).
They then return to league action against Southampton on Wednesday (9 February).
In other news, Tottenham could start working on signing Premier League star next week, claims insider.
