Tottenham transfer news: Spurs land £59.9m boost after Dele Alli deal agreed – Expert

Tottenham are set for a £59.9million boost following Dele Alli’s departure.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Alli, 25, joined Everton on deadline day after falling out of favour at Tottenham.

The same day, Sky Sports reported the deal could cost Everton up to £40million with the deal structured around performance-based add-ons.

As well as this, Wenham insists Spurs will save almost £20million with Alli’s wages off the books.

“Alli’s departure clears £150,000 from the wage bill every week for the next two and a half years, that’s just under £20million saved on a player who just isn’t doing it for us,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“In that regard, I think it’s a great deal. Especially considering some of the reports that are quoting £40million.

“I put a tweet out, thanking him for some amazing memories. He’s given me and other fans some of our best moments supporting Spurs.

“I was at Wembley when he put two past Real Madrid. I was at Stamford Bridge when he scored two to end 28 years of waiting for a win there.

“The chip against Arsenal in the League Cup, there are more. I love Alli as a player and he’s one of our modern-day greats.

“Unfortunately, four managers have failed to get the best of him. I’m really pleased he’s secured that permanent move away.

“I was initially worried it might be another loan and we would have the same situation in the summer.”
