Tottenham twist: Man City defender pursuit critical to big-money deal - Sources
Tottenham attempts to sign Joe Rodon by Friday have been held up partly by Swansea City’s pursuit of Manchester City defender Joel Latibeaudiere, Football Insider understands.
Spurs have offered the Welsh club fringe players of their own to sweeten a deal worth £15million in total.
As this site revealed today, multiple Tottenham players could yet be included to force the deal over the line by Friday’s 5pm deadline.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Swansea first want a replacement for Rodon in place and are in talks to sign Latibeaudiere on loan from Man City.
There is plenty of competition for the England Under-20 international from rival Championship clubs.
Bournemouth were in pole position to sign him last month, while Luton Town, Reading and Bristol City have also pursued him in recent months.

Latibeaudiere has yet to make a senior appearance for Pep Guardiola’s side.
However he did make his senior bow last season on loan with Twente in Holland and will be keen to pick up more first team experience.
The youngster played six times for the Dutch Eredivisie side, primarily as a right-back, and managed to score once and chip in with a further assist.
Latibeaudiere has been with City since he was 13-years-old and was part of the England side that defeated Spain to win the Under 17 World Cup three years ago.
Should Swansea win the race for Latibeaudiere, that would seemingly end Spurs’ hopes of including Cameron Carter-Vickers in a player-plus-cash deal for Rodon.
Different formulas are being offered by Tottenham but they remain hopeful of landing the centre-back by Friday night.
