The Belgian defender was rarely threatened by West Ham’s front line of Javier Hernandez, Michail Antonio and Marko Arnautovic, although that changed when Andy Carroll was introduced.
It was a good physical battle between the two, and the Spurs man showed his strength and experience to manage the aerial threat posed.
However he was caught out of position for a Hernandez header, which saw the cross float over his head and onto the Mexican’s.
